The person who got impressed by linen clothes on store hangers is about to get into the harsh reality of the threads and it’s working.
The one who wears linen knows that it would neither cling to the body nor will it leave you exposed, it would never ever soak your sweat like its natural fabric counterparts. It would just be there in utmost denial yet be there covering the body.
It would never yield to your ironing efforts, and by chance you succeed at it, it would crease the minute you try to move into it. If you observe yourself in humid heat, you may get goosebumps with the sweat trailing on your body. Nor would it make you feel uncomfortable. And it would never leave you exposed to the air. It will protect you from the sun and wind alike.
It would seldom pick dirt, and you will question yourself for washing it, because the drying time is between cotton and synthetic you’d be left puzzled thinking whether this is really a natural fabric.
How much you try to tame it it would fight its best. Try decrease its creases by ironing, it will not yield to your tactics. Try fold, it would bounce as if it is some elastic thread elements, try convince yourself that its natural fabric and wear it in formal setup, it will be ready to embarrass you by creasing in weird places. There is some magic in working.
Yet it would last long, it will have the same sheen and it definitely is and would remain costly. And that’s absurd.
And, even after all these betrayals, my love for linen clothes remains unshaken and will remain so until some stubborn, natural and comfortable thread shows up in the shelves.
